Arithmetic Calculators

Arithmetic is the maths you meet every day: a percentage on a receipt, a fraction in a recipe, a long division you want to check. The calculators here do those jobs. The main ones show the working, so you can see where an answer comes from and find the line where your own went wrong.

For percentages, start with the percentage calculator. It answers the three basic questions (a percent of a number, what percent one number is of another, and the whole from a part) and adds or takes off a percentage. Percent change, percent difference and percent error are three different formulas that are easy to mix up, so each has its own page that says when to use it.

For fractions, the fractions calculator adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides fractions and mixed numbers. Two converters go between the forms: decimal to fraction, including repeating decimals, and fraction to decimal. The long division calculator sets the working out the way you would write it on paper.

The rest of the list covers square roots, absolute value, factors and the greatest common factor, remainders, sums, ratios, proportions, unit rates and place value.
