Hourly to Salary Converter

Worked example: $25/hour, 40 hours/week

With the tool's own defaults — 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year — a $25 hourly rate breaks down as:

Weekly:   25 × 40 = $1,000.00
Bi-weekly: 1,000 × 2 = $2,000.00
Annual:   1,000 × 52 = $52,000.00
Monthly:  52,000 / 12 = $4,333.33

Note the order of operations: monthly pay is derived by dividing the annual total by 12, not by multiplying weekly pay by an average "4.33 weeks per month" — that avoids compounding rounding errors across the different figures.

Adjusting for time off

The "Weeks per Year" field defaults to 52, but if you take 2 unpaid weeks off, entering 50 instead changes the annual total to 1,000 × 50 = $50,000 — $2,000 less than the naive 52-week figure, even though your hourly rate and weekly hours didn't change. This is the field to adjust if you want a realistic annual estimate that accounts for actual unpaid time off.

What "gross" means here

Every figure this tool produces is pre-tax, pre-deduction gross pay. It doesn't subtract federal or state income tax, Social Security, Medicare, or any benefits withholding — your actual take-home pay will be meaningfully lower than the annual number shown, typically by 20-35% depending on your tax bracket and location.

Input bounds

Hours per week is capped at 168 (the literal number of hours in a week — you cannot exceed it), and weeks per year is capped at 52.
